Christa Construction has commenced construction activities on the Rochester Educational Opportunity Center, located at 161 Chestnut Street, under the direction of the State University Construction Fund (SUCF).  As General Contractor, Christa Construction was able to exceed the SUCF Minority and Woman Business Enterprise goals for this project.  Other team members include BHNT Architects of Buffalo, NY. 

This $12.8 million project consists of the renovation of four floors and the basement level of a five-story, 125,000 SF building to house this educational center. Providing career training and college-readiness courses, the local center is affiliated with the State University College at Brockport and is one of 10 such centers across the state. About 1,500 students from the area attend the tuition-free center.

In addition to traditional classrooms, the new facility will include a 500-seat, multi-purpose area for the center’s special events and also feature a cosmetology salon and culinary bistro for training students.

The anticipated completion for this project is Fall of 2011.
