In October 1998, Webster CSD launched a $47.9 million capital expansion project with Christa Construction as construction manager. The project included a new 174,000 SF, Willink MS, complete with new baseball and soccer fields, a 10,000 SF field house and a 15,000 SF school bus garage nearby. The Webster Thomas High School was renovated and expanded by 7,000 SF. A new 50-meter Olympic size pool with a movable bulkhead and 3-meter diving board, new locker rooms and renovated athletic fields were completed at the Webster Schroeder High School. The District partnered with the Town of Webster, who contributed financially, to build the fieldhouse, pool, locker room and 10 athletic fields.
Christa is working once again for the District on their $48 million additions and renovations project being completed in a series of phases.
Phase one is complete and was further broken down into two phases. Phase 1A, $5.4M. The bulk of work consisted of the 12,000 SF addition to Spry Middle School, providing 15 new classrooms. The balance involved asbestos floor tile removal and replacement with VCT at five schools.
Phase 1B, $6.8M, involved another five schools with removal of asbestos floor tile and replacement with VCT. The bulk of this phase comprised two separate additions to Thomas HS, a 6,200 SF general purpose gym and weight room and 6,300 SF addition for eight new classrooms.
Phases 2A, B & C are currently underway and scheduled for completion by September 2009.
