| Parking StructuresProject: Court Street Parking Garage Info: The 1,048 car Court Street Parking Garage was the first garage built in Rochester with three in-ground stories. Construction of this full city block, ten level cast-in-place concrete garage was started in May of 1994 and was completed in November of 1995. It included a soils retention system 35 feet below grade. The garage has an underground tunnel connection to the basement of the Bausch & Lomb World Headquarters. The garage also serves the $22 million Rundel Library which Christa Construction completed as construction manager. Situated in the heart of downtown on the corner of two busy streets, the construction site had some built in constraints. Working in close quarters, where the building had been figured to within an inch of the property line, Christa utilized a tower-crane for unloading trucks, placing concrete, and hoisting equipment and materials.
It is important to note that, with state-of-the-art techniques and Christa staff knowledge, Christa was able to place micro silica fume concrete during the winter months. This was the first time that a winter installation was done in the eastern United States! A/E Firm: Handler Grosso Durfee Bridges Services: Construction Management Parking Structures < PrevNext > |
