May 22, 2025 Governor Kathy Hochul Announces the Start of Construction for Hooper Road Apartments
May 21, 2025 (Union, NY) – Governor Kathy Hochul alongside New York State Homes and Community Renewal (HCR) announced the start of construction on CDS Hooper Road Apartments, a new 80-unit affordable senior housing community in the Town of Union, Broome County, NY.
Once complete, this four-story affordable and supportive housing development will have 78 one-bedroom and 2 two-bedroom apartments. Of the total units, 40 units will offer on-site supportive services.
Built with sustainability in mind, this project is designed to achieve LEED-Gold certification. The development will feature all-electric heating/cooling and domestic hot water, Energy Star appliances, LED lighting, low flow plumbing fixtures, continuously operating bath fans, and four electric vehicle charging stations.
This $29 million project, supported by New York State Homes & Community Renewal, reflects a shared commitment to building strong communities and expanding access to safe, affordable housing.
