St. John’s Brickstone is a 16-acre senior living community comprised of 40 apartments, 9 townhomes and 53 bungalows creating a safe, walkable neighborhood. The community incorporates the natural extensive wetlands, a contrast to the busy part of Brighton, NY.
The property also features a retail component. The Wintergarden and Village Square features house shops and restaurants. It also serves as a neighborhood center open to area residents and Brickstone tenants, offering a centralized community space for residents and visitors.
St. John’s Brickstone encompasses St. John’s mission to maintain and create connections between elders and their community as well as exemplifying the principles of New Urbanism blended with nature. This senior housing community has transformed the paradigm of “aging in place” to “engaging the community.”
Christa Construction, as Construction Manager at Risk, built the community in two phases. Phase I of the project was completed in the fall of 2012 and Phase II was completed in the summer of 2014. This project has received the Environments of Aging (EFA) Award of Merit on January 2016.
