July 20^th, 2026: Christa Construction gathered with local officials, project partners, and community members to celebrate a groundbreaking ceremony for the BMHA Marine Drive Apartments. This project is a transformational affordable housing development that aims to reshape one of Buffalo’s most historic waterfront communities.

The groundbreaking ceremony signifies the beginning of the first phase of construction.

A phase which includes:

New Construction of a 12-story residential tower
New Construction of a 7-story mixed income building
New Construction of a 3-story rowhouse style structure
Construction of an enclosed parking garage for 188 cars
Community amenity spaces
Enhancements to site infrastructure

Phase one lays the foundation for a multi-year redevelopment that will ultimately deliver nearly 700 new affordable homes. Our team will improve pedestrian circulation, increase access to green space, and modernize community facilities across the Marine Drive development.

The Marine Drive Redevelopment took a resident-informed approach, incorporating feedback from current residents into the final design. We are honored to support a resident driven project that will expand access to safe, high-quality housing while strengthening Buffalo’s waterfront community. Our team is committed to delivering first-class construction with a heavy focus on safety, efficiency, and long-term durability.

The redevelopment is being completed in partnership with the Buffalo Municipal Housing Authority, The Habitat Company, Duvernay + Brooks, and an experienced team of architects, engineers, and planning consultants. Together, these organizations are working to modernize the aging Marine Drive complex while ensuring residents have access to energy-efficient, accessible, and community-centered homes for decades to come.
